Kenya Tea Packers Ltd. (KETEPA) is one of the largest tea blending and packaging companies in Africa with a capacity to produce 15million kilograms of  packed loose-leaf tea and over 1 million Kgs of tea bags per annum.

According to the company’s Managing Director Mr. Timothy Chege, the organization was registered as a private company in 1977 but started operations in January 1978.  Ketepa, he said, was formed as a result of shortage of tea locally due to attractive tea prices in the export market, which led to shortages in the local market. The company is owned by the tea growers of Kenya through the Kenya Tea Development Agency Limited(KTDA) and the Kenya Tea Growers Association (KTGA). KTDA, which represents over 400,000 small-scale tea growers scattered across the country, is the majority shareholder with a 70 per cent shareholding.
