The Nairobi International Trade Fair (NITF) is the largest Trade Fair in the East African region. It is a seven day event that runs from late September to early October every year with the aim of fostering opportunities for regional, continental and global exhibitors to display and demonstrate their services and products. It also offers show visitors an opportunity to meet people from different countries and backgrounds, hence creating a platform for interaction, exchange of ideas and experiences.
This year’s trade fair themed ‘Promoting Innovation and Technology in Agriculture and Trade’ ran from 2nd through 8th October with the grand opening officiated by H.E President Uhuru Kenyatta on 4th October 2017 after which he toured select exhibitor stands which had won top awards. The Trade Fair has three broad sections namely: livestock and crop demonstration, manufacturers and service industry and international exhibitions. In the last 2 years, over eighty (80) companies have participated in the trade fair. Countries that have been represented include: Egypt, China, Ethiopia, Burundi, Botswana, Belgium, Chile, Eritrea, Hungary, Germany, India, Iran, Mozambique, Nigeria, Romania, Tanzania, Sudan, Seychelles, South Africa, Switzerland, Yemen, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Pakistan, Canada, Turkey, U.S.A and Uganda.
KETEPA, being among one of the local manufacturers, participated in the trade fair showcasing its various brands namely: Fahari ya Kenya, Safari pure, Chai yetu, Karibu chai, Maisha water, Ketepa pride black tea and array of flavored tea varieties.
Our local and international tea consumers who visited our stand got to learn more about the history of tea, our diverse brands and the unique innovations we have undertaken to support the tea industry.
Everyone from the elderly grandmother to the 2 year old toddler loved our flavored teas. Favorite among the young were Mint, Lemon, Forest fruit and Mango flavored teas while the older generation preferred our Jani green tea and ginger flavor.
Our tea stand was the optimal stop during the chilly morning, sunny afternoon and cool evening. Those whose thirst called for something cooler than tea were treated to some Maisha water to counter the afternoon heat.
The trade fair gave us the perfect opportunity to showcase our assorted brands as well as sell our products, but most importantly it enabled us to closely interact & engage with our consumers who gladly sampled & enjoyed of our tea assortment.
